Meet the Teachers of Gracenote Family Music!
Our teachers come from all sorts of backgrounds, but they’re united by a common passion: Sharing the joy of music with children and families in Multiple Oklahoma Locations!
All teachers have successfully completed the live Music Together Teacher Training, which is built on research in early childhood and music development. We keep our skills fresh through workshops every semester and advanced trainings offered by Music Together Worldwide.
Angela Piersall has had a passion for music ever since she began piano lessons as a child. From middle school on, she enjoyed participating in chorus, band, and various music competitions. She has enjoyed working with children in many different settings, including teaching private music lessons, since she was in high school. Angela majored in music at Oklahoma Christian University and graduated in 2006 with a bachelor’s degree in music performance. Angela believes that music should be shared with family and friends, and strives to impart her love of music to her own children, and any other little ones she has the pleasure to teach!
Katie Aldridge earned a bachelor’s degree in K-12 vocal music education from Oklahoma Christian University. She also has a master’s degree in musicology from the University of Oklahoma. She taught K-6 music in Moore, OK for four years. During that time she received training in the Kodaly method. She has also been teaching private piano lessons for ten years. Now she is a stay at home mom with two little boys and is interested in early childhood musical development. Katie thinks teaching music is the most fun and rewarding job! She especially enjoys being creative and seeing children grow and develop.
Heather Hoffhines, owner of Gracenote Family Music, discovered the Music Together® program as a new mom in Dallas, TX in 2010 and, having extensive musical instrument training in her past, was very impressed with the program and how naturally her daughter began to develop music competence. She was trained as a Music Together teacher in 2013. She began teaching Music Together Mixed Age classes for the Olenka School of Music in Ellicott City, MD in 2014 until her family relocated back home to Oklahoma in 2015. Heather found it difficult to imagine not having the opportunity to provide her children with the Music Together experience in her Oklahoma communities, so she decided to bring the program home with her to Oklahoma.
Crystal Johnson is beyond excited to bring Music Together to more children and families. She has two bachelor’s degrees from East Central University: Vocal Music Performance, Theatre Performance. During her three years of living in New York City she worked on Broadway and Off Broadway stages and had further vocal training from Tony Award Nominee, Nancy Opel. She joyfully moved back to Oklahoma to share her experiences and love of music. She is passionate to teach these precious children that ALL children are musical!
My name is Leah Sherman. I am a teacher at King’s Gate Christian School. I teach Pre-K and preschool music. I attended Oklahoma Christian University and received a BA in music and I was a part of the OC chorale. I am so excited to be a part of the Music Together staff. I would love the chance to share my love of music with others and help build a community of music lovers!
